Children Ear Plugs

A large amount of the calls we get to our busy helpine are from parents looking to help prevent infections for their children. Unfourtunately we also get calls from parents who are looking for plugs and solutions to help their childrens ear infections from spreading. Whilts we obviously welcome the business, it is a shame that by investiing a small amount of money upfront can actually help reduce or stop the possbility of a child from getting any form of water based infections.

Earplugs are an ideal prevention aid ,as they obviously stop water from entering the ear canals. Although it is well worth remembering in irder to get the best out of your purchase, it is highlely recommeded to bu a pair of ear plugs that have been designed with children in mind.

We do actually now sell a range of such plugs, so do check out our childrens ear plugs catergory. As you will see, there are not many to choose from, mainly because there are not that many available on the market today, aimed specifcially at the younger generation.

As you can see we offer a simple silicone putty type of plugs by Macks that are cheap and as they are made from moldable putty, can be easily shaped to fit the individual shape of the ear. Macks have also gone one step further by colouring the earplus bright orange to make them more attractive to children. I do think this does actually work, as we get a lot of repeat orders on these types of plugs.

The other option you have is buying a pair of Alpine Pluggies, that are made from doubled flanged soft silicone. Similar to that design normally asscociated with an adult but naturally smaller. We really do like these ear plugs as there is no messing around in shaping the plugs but the problem is they are actually a lot more expensive, considering they are sold in 2 pairs.

As you wil see from the above lin, the ear plugs that we recommend for swimming or indeed water based contact are made from silicone, irrispective of manufacturer. The good thing about these types of plugs is that they have a very long lifespan and come with a carry case ( well the ones we sell do!).

The key here to remember is that childrens ear plugs need to be smaller than that of an adult as they need to be able to fit into the much smaller ear canals of a child. Part of the problem we have experienced is that parents who enjoy swimming tend to lend their ear plugs to their children. Although this may not be a particular harmful activity, they generally do not offer best fit.

So please do consider investing in a pair of plugs made for children and as we currently have an offer on both types of ear plugs, you really have no reason not to do so!
